A simple banana bread recipe requires 2 or 3 very ripe bananas, 1/3 cup of melted butter, 1 cup of sugar and 1 beaten egg. Also, the recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and baking soda, a pinch of salt, and 1 1/2 cups of flour.
To begin, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and grease a 4-inch by 8-inch loaf pan. Peel the bananas, and mash them using a fork until they form a smooth paste. Mix in the melted butter with the bananas in a bowl. Mix in the baking soda and salt first, and then add in the beaten egg, sugar, and pinch of salt. Mix in the flour last.
Pour the contents of the bowl into the greased loaf pan, and place it in the oven for at least an hour. Check the loaf after around 50 minutes of baking, and insert a test toothpick into the center of the loaf. If it comes out clean, the loaf is about done. The loaf may need to bake up to 1 hour and 10 minutes. When it is fully baked, remove the pan from the oven, and set it on a cooling rack. Cut the loaf into slices with a bread knife once it has completely cooled.
