For easy baked beans, gather 4 14-ounce cans of pork and beans, 1 large onion, 1 pound bacon, 1/2 cup of dark molasses and 2 tablespoons of prepared yellow mustard. Also, prepare 1/4 cup of light brown sugar. Cook the casserole for approximately 45 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Fry the bacon in a large skillet until it is fully cooked. While the bacon is cooking, slice the onion and reserve it, placing it on the side. Vidalia varieties offer an especially ideal sweetness to this dish. Once the bacon is cooked, remove it from the pan and transfer it to a paper towel where the excess fat can drain. Once the bacon cools, crumble it.
Add the now chopped onion to the skillet containing the bacon grease, and cook it until it soften, Next, stir in the prepared bean and pork product, the molasses, sugar, mustard powder and the crumbled bacon bits. Combine everything thoroughly in the skillet, then transfer the entirety of the contents to a three-quart casserole dish. Leaving the dish uncovered, place the dish in the pre-heated oven, and allow it to cook for the 45 minutes. After that allotted time elapses, check to see if the dish is done. The beans should be bubbling all around the sides.
