What Are Some Simple "Mr. Food" Recipes?

Simple recipes featured at Mr. Food Test Kitchen's website include All American goulash and "Don't Peek" chicken. Goulash is a popular skillet dish made with ground beef and macaroni, which serves four people. "Don't Peek" chicken is an easy casserole to make for dinner.

The first step in making All American goulash is cooking 1/2 pound elbow macaroni according to package directions. Drain the macaroni and cover the pot to keep the noodles warm. In a large skillet, cook 1 1/2 pounds ground beef with 1/2 of a chopped green pepper and 1 small chopped onion for six to eight minutes. Drain juices from the pan and add the cooked macaroni. Stir in a jar of spaghetti sauce and 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder and salt.

Add 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, mix well and simmer for five to seven minutes. Sprinkle 1 cup cheddar cheese on top and continue simmering until cheese is completely melted.

Prepare "Don't Peek" chicken by greasing a 9 by 13-inch baking dish. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup uncooked long grain rice with 1 can each of cream of mushroom and cream of celery soups, 1 envelope onion soup mix and 1 soup can of cold water. Add 1 clove crushed garlic along with 1 teaspoon each of chopped fresh parsley and Worcestershire sauce.

Pour mixture into baking dish and press 8 pieces of chicken into the mixture. Sprinkle a bit of paprika on top, cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 1/4 hours.
