Simple Italian desserts include Italian anise cookies, tiramisu, biscotti, neapolitan honey balls and strawberry panna cotta. Strawberry cannoli also require just a few ingredients such as ricotta cheese, cream cheese, confectioner's sugar and almond extract and take only a few moments of preparation.
Tiramisu is a traditional Italian dessert that requires very little work. First, brew some coffee, use 3/4 cup of coffee-flavored liqueur or combine coffee syrup with 3/4 cup of water. In a baking dish, lay down a layer of ladyfingers. Brush these with the coffee mixture, then spread half a tub of ready-to-eat cheesecake on top. Sprinkle grated chocolate on top of the cheesecake filling. Add another lady finger and cheesecake-filling layer before dusting the top with cocoa powder.
Another easy Italian dessert is strawberry panna cotta, a creamy gelatin dessert. Blend 1 pound of strawberries and 1/2 cup of sugar until a puree forms. To remove the seeds, press through a sieve. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the puree. Prepare the gelatin base by sprinkling 1 packet of unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup of water and allowing it to stand, then heat it in a skillet until the gelatin dissolves. In a saucepan, warm 1 1/2 cups of whole milk, and stir in the gelatin. Add the strawberry puree and 1 cup of heavy whipping cream. Pour the mixture into serving dishes and chill for four hours.
