To make Emeril Lagasse's old time vanilla ice cream, whisk together 2 cups heavy cream, 2 cups whole milk, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla and a pinch of salt. When the sugar is dissolved, pour the mixture into an ice cream machine. Follow the machine's directions to churn the ice cream. When the ice cream is done, place it in an air tight container in the freezer. When serving the dessert, garnish the ice cream with chocolate curls.
To make Southern Living's no-cook chocolate ice cream, whisk together 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 5 ounces evaporated milk, 2 cups whole chocolate milk and 2/3 cup chocolate syrup. Cover the mixture and chill it for 30 minutes. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and follow the machine's directions.
To make Southern Living's no-cook strawberry ice cream, whisk together 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 5 ounces evaporated milk, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 1/2 cups whole milk. Cover the mixture and chill it for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, combine 16 ounces fresh or thawed frozen strawberries, 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a food processor.
