Simple cookie dough recipes all include the basic ingredients of flour, eggs and butter. The addition of vanilla and chocolate chips gives you chocolate chip cookies. For sugar cookies, add vanilla extract. For a simple peanut butter cookie recipe, substitute yellow cake mix for the flour.
For peanut butter cookies, combine 1 box of yellow cake mix, 1/3 cup of water, 1 1/3 cups of creamy peanut butter, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 egg. Beat until smooth and creamy. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto a cookie sheet. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
For sugar cookies, in a small bowl, combine 2 3/4 cups of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. In a large bowl, mix together 1 cup of soft butter, 1 egg, 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Stir until well-blended, and add the flour mixture. Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of buttermilk to soften the dough. Place rounded teaspoons of dough on a cookie sheet, and flatten slightly. Brush lightly with 2 tablespoons of buttermilk, and sprinkle colored sugar on top of each raw cookie. Bake for eight to 10 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
