A sauce that is often served with crab cakes is remoulade sauce. Although there are many versions of the recipe for the sauce, only nine ingredients are needed to make a version offered through the Cooking Channel.
A blender or food processor is not a requirement to make the Cooking Channel version of remoulade sauce. Some of the ingredients, such as the onions, bell peppers and parsley leaves, can all be chopped or diced by hand. Other necessary ingredients include salt and pepper, capers, mayonnaise, grain mustard and hot sauce.
Remoulade sauce is also often served with salmon cakes. Originally developed in France, this sauce reminds many people of tartar sauce because it is mayonnaise-based, but it has a unique taste of its own.
