Samoan people eat a lot of food that is based around the taro plant, such as baked taro root. Other fruits that are popular in Samoa include raw fish, breadfruit and cooked bananas.
Desserts are often made out of taro as well, such as fa'ausi, which is taro with a coconut cream sauce. Raw fish, such as tuna, is often served marinated in coconut cream with lemon and salt. Green bananas are often cooked in the oven and then dipped in coconut cream. Other popular items include sweet potatoes, and potatoes, meats and seafood cooked above an oven pit.
