What Is Sambuca?

Sambuca is a type of liqueur that is flavored with anise. It is infused with licorice and elder bush, with sugar used to sweeten it. Some varieties of sambuca add different types of spices and herbs for flavor.

The different types of sambuca are categorized by their color, with white, black, red, blue and gold available. White sambuca, which tastes like black licorice, is the most common.
