Some romantic food ideas for Valentine's Day include lemon raspberry fizz, crispy rack of lamb with honey and mascarpone, fried clams and oysters, and spinach and mushroom ravioli. Top the meal off with chocolate covered strawberries or chocolate-raspberry mascarpone bars for dessert.
Lemon raspberry fizz is easy to make and great for Valentine's Day. To prepare the drink, combine 1 cup of champagne or sparkling water and 1/4 cup of limoncello liqueur. Place a small amount of crushed ice in each of two champagne glasses, and place 1 tablespoon of fresh or frozen raspberries on top. Pour the champagne mixture over the raspberries and ice, and serve immediately.
To make chocolate covered strawberries, gather 1 pound of strawberries, and insert a toothpick into the top of each berry. Melt 16 ounces of milk chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of shortening in a double boiler, stirring the mixture occasionally until it is smooth. Holding by the toothpicks, dip each strawberry into the chocolate.
Flip the strawberries upside down and poke the toothpick into a piece of Styrofoam to cool, or simply place the strawberries on wax paper. For a more decorated look, drizzle some melted white chocolate over the top of the strawberries.
