A few natural remedies to get rid of onion taste or onion breath include chewing some parsley, drinking a combination of water and lemon juice and chewing some citrus peels. Other ways to freshen the mouth include chewing on some mint candies and using mouth sprays.
An onion taste in the mouth is usually the result of eating raw onions. Cooked onions may not cause this problem. To get rid of onion smell on the hands, rubbing lemon juice on them is a useful remedy.
When using raw onions in a dish or recipe, placing the sliced onions in a bowl of ice water for an hour and a half and then draining them reduces the pungency.
