Lean turkey honeycrisp sausage breakfast patties and oven-baked honeycrisp apple chips are two recipes using honeycrisp apples. Each has a prep time of no more than 20 minutes and contains 10 or fewer ingredients.
To make the breakfast patties, preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a large parchment paper-lined baking sheet with cooking spray. Sauté 1 minced garlic clove and 1/2 of a finely chopped onion with 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat for about three minutes. Add 1 finely chopped honeycrisp apple, and cook until the apple softens. Transfer to a bowl, and stir in a pinch of nutmeg and a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
After the apple cools, combine it with 1 pound of extra lean ground turkey, 1/2 tablespoons of maple syrup, 2 egg whites, 1/4 cup of gluten-free oat flour and a 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Shape into 16 patties, and arrange the patties in rows on the cookie sheet. Bake until the turkey is no longer pink, about 10 minutes.
For the honeycrisp apple chips, slice 1 to 6 honeycrisp apples on a mandoline. Coring the apples is optional. Sprinkle the slices with cinnamon, and then rub the cinnamon into the flesh. Arrange the slices in a single layer on rimmed baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake the apple slices for about two to three hours or until they are dry.
