Some recipes that call for canned spiced apples are apple cake, apple pizza pie and apple raisin cobbler. To make the latter, toss 2 cups of canned apples or apple pie filling with 1 cup of raisins and 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, and spoon it into a graham cracker pie crust. Whisk together 1/3 cup of flour, 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of melted butter and 3/4 cup of walnuts, and sprinkle the mixture over the top.
Bake the apple cobbler at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 to 45 minutes, and serve it slightly cooled.
Make another pie-like dessert, apple pizza pie, by forming a sweet dough out of 1/2 cup of softened butter, 1/4 cup of confectioners' sugar, and 1 cup of sifted all-purpose flour. Press it into a 12-inch pizza pan.
While the crust bakes at 350 F for 15 minutes, whisk together 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese with 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Spoon 2 21-ounce cans of canned apple evenly over the cooled crust, and sprinkle the top with the brown sugar mixture. Bake the pizza for another 25 to 30 minutes before serving.
