Some recipes using canned oysters include crispy oven-fried oysters and scalloped oysters. Canned oysters can also be used in a wide range of dip recipes, such as hot crab and oyster dip.
Make crispy oven-fried oysters by first making the breading mixture from 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/8 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper. Taking two separate bowls, add 2 whisked eggs to one and 1 cup of dry bread crumbs mixed with 2/3 cup of grated Romano cheese, 1/4 cup of minced fresh parsley and 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt to the other. Dip 2 cans of drained whole oysters in the flour mixture, then the whisked eggs and the crumb mixture before placing them on a rimmed baking pan. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
Scalloped oysters calls for 1/2 of the crumb mixture made from 2 cups of crushed crackers, 1/2 cup of melted butter, 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper to taste layered in the bottom of a baking dish. Spread 1 can of whole drained oysters over the crumbs. Repeat the layers with the last of the crumb mixture and another can of oysters. Finish by mixing together 1 cup of heavy whipping cream with 1/4 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce and pouring it over the oysters. Bake at 350 degree Fahrenheit for 30 to 40 minutes.
