Some recipes for tiger shrimp include broiled lemon and garlic tiger prawns from AllRecipes.com and zesty chile tiger prawns from the Cooking Channel. Each recipe calls for tiger prawns, garlic and various seasonings and takes less than 20 minutes to prepare.
To make lemon and garlic tiger prawns, remove the tails and veins from 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of tiger prawns. In a small pan, combine 1 cup of butter, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and 1 1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice. Heat until melted, and stir to blend. Remove 1/4 cup of the butter mixture, and set aside. Place the shrimp on a broiler pan, cover with the remaining butter, and broil for five minutes.
To make the zesty tiger prawns, peel and devein 7 ounces of tiger prawns. In a wok or frying pan over high heat, add 2 tablespoons of groundnut oil. Stir in 5 cloves of garlic and 1 red pepper, all finely chopped, and stir-fry for a few minutes. Add the tiger shrimp, 1 tablespoon of rice wine or dry sherry, and the juice of 1 lime. Stir-fry until the shrimp begins to turn pink, about three minutes.
Then add 3 ounces of French green beans to wok, and mix with the prawns. Stir-fry for an additional two to four minutes or until the shrimp are pink and cooked. Remove the wok from the heat, and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of dried chili flakes. Serve immediately.
