To make the French pork pie from AllRecipes.com, combine 2 1/2 pounds of lean ground pork, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves,1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1 large chopped onion and 1 teaspoon of salt in a large saucepan. Add 1 stalk of chopped celery, 1 bay leaf and 3 cups of water to the mixture. Simmer the mixture over medium heat for three hours, and remove the bay leaf when it is done.
Boil the potatoes in a separate saucepan for about 10 minutes, then drain and mash them. Add the potatoes to the pork mixture. Fill 2 9-inch pie crusts with the mixture, cover with top crusts, and seal the crusts by fluting the edges. Bake the pies for 45 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
The pork pie recipe from CookingChannelTV.com calls for 2 pounds of ground pork, 8 ounces of bacon, 1 pound of russet potatoes, 2 cups of chopped celery and 1/2 cup of chopped parsley for the filling. Add 1 tablespoon of chopped savory, 2 cloves of chopped garlic and 2 large chopped onions to the mixture, then simmer for 20 minutes. Pour the filling into 2 13-inch pie crusts, and bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
