Some old-fashioned cocktail recipes include the Americano, the Negroni, the Zombie, the Mint Julep and the Rob Roy. Other classic cocktails include the Martini, the Sidecar, the Tom Collins and the Old Fashioned.
The Americano consists of 2 ounces of Campari, 2 ounces of sweet vermouth and a splash of club soda served over ice with an orange slice. The Negroni is made in almost the same way, only the club soda is swapped out for gin. There are multiple versions of the Zombie, and all of them call for rum and fruit juices in various combinations. Mint Juleps are made using bourbon, sugar or simple syrup, and fresh mint leaves. A Rob Roy calls for vermouth, scotch whiskey and bitters served over ice and topped with a cherry.
A Martini is made from gin or vodka and vermouth. These ingredients are poured through an ice-filled cocktail shaker and garnished with green olives or pearl onions. A Sidecar is a blend of orange liqueur, cognac and lemon juice. The Old Fashioned is made by muddling sugar and bitters together and then adding whiskey and a twist of citrus rind. A Tom Collins features gin, sugar, lemon juice and carbonated water.
