FoodNetwork.com and MarthaStewart.com both provide recipes for noodle kugel. Although the recipes are different, they both include egg noodles, eggs, sugar, sour cream and butter.
To make the FoodNetwork.com recipe, preheat your oven to 375 F. Boil the noodles in salted water for four minutes. Strain the noodles. In a large mixing bowl, combine noodles with 1/2 stick of melted butter, 1 pound cottage cheese, 2 cups sour cream, 1/2 cup sugar, 6 eggs, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 cup raisins and pour into a greased baking dish. Bake the dish for about 30 to 45 minutes.
The MarthaStewart.com recipe includes 1 cup of melted butter, coarse salt, 1 pound of egg noodles, 6 eggs, 2 cups of sour cream, 1 cup of sugar, 12 ounces if cream cheese, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 2 large Granny Smith apples. Peel, core and chop the apples into 1/2-inch pieces to make about 3 cups.
Preheat an oven to 350 F. Boil the noodles for six minutes. Drain and return the noodles to the pot. Mix the eggs and sour cream until they are combined. Mix in 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup butter, and the cream cheese. Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet. Stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add the apple pieces and gently toss them into the mixture. Cook and toss the mixture until the apples are soft.
Stir the apples into the egg mixture. Pour the mixture over the noodles and stir. Pour everything into the buttered dish. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of butter over noodles, then sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
