Recipes from the Martha Bakes show include a recipe for blueberry crisp and a recipe for oven-baked French toast. A number of recipes from the Martha Bakes show are available from the food section of PBS.org.
To make the blueberry crisp, stir 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon together in a bowl before cutting in 6 tablespoons of cold unsalted butter to form a crumbly mixture. Scatter 5 cups of blueberries into a buttered 9-inch round baking dish, and distribute the crumbs evenly over the fruit. Bake the blueberry crisp at 375 F for approximately 30 minutes. Enjoy the dessert by itself, or serve it with vanilla ice cream.
To make the oven-baked French toast, whisk 6 large eggs in a bowl before adding 2 1/2 tablespoons of orange-flavored liqueur, 2 tablespoons of orange juice, 1/2 tablespoon of orange zest, 1 tablespoon of sanding sugar and a pinch of salt. Beat in 1 1/4 cups of milk.
Place nonstick baking mats on rimmed baking sheets. Cut a 20-ounce loaf of brioche into 1/2-inch slices, and drench the pieces in the liquid mixture before arranging them on the baking sheets. Place one of the baking sheets inside an oven preheated to 375 F, and bake the slices for 12 minutes before broiling them for two minutes or until they turn golden brown. Repeat this step with the remaining baking sheet. Serve the French toast with a dab of butter and a sprinkling of sugar, or dress it with a drizzle of maple syrup.
