Grandma Paul's caramel corn from Paula Deen and caramel popcorn from MyRecipes are both recipes for homemade caramel corn. You need butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, baking soda and popcorn, although the ingredients vary somewhat between the two recipes.
Make Grandma Paul's caramel corn by adding 1 cup of butter, 2 cups of brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 cup of light corn syrup to a saucepan to make the caramel sauce. Bring the caramel sauce to a boil, and cook for five minutes before removing the sauce from the heat and whisking in 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Toss the sauce with 8 cups of popped popcorn, and pour the caramel corn in a pan. Bake it at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for 60 minutes, and allow it to dry out before serving.
To make MyRecipes' caramel popcorn, add 1 tablespoon of molasses to a saucepan along with 1 cup of dark brown sugar, 1/2 cup of corn syrup and 1/3 cup of butter, and bring everything to a boil. After five minutes, remove the pan from the heat, and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/2 teaspoons of salt and 1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Toss the caramel sauce with 12 cups of popped popcorn, and bake it at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 60 minutes, stirring often. Cool caramel popcorn for 15 minutes before serving.
