French onion fondue is a cheese-based recipe for a fondue party. This dip goes well with vegetables or French bread. White chocolate fondue is a good dessert. It goes best with slices of fruit, such as strawberries, bananas and apples. It is also possible to dip pretzels, crisp cookies and cubes of pound cake into this mixture.
To make French onion fondue, place 3 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, and heat it until the butter starts sizzling. Chop one large onion, add it to the saucepan, and cook everything for 15 to 20 minutes. Pour 1/2 cup of dry white wine or water into the mixture, and cook it for two to four more minutes. Chop up 12 slices of American cheese, and add the cheese to the mixture, adding 1/2 cup at a time once the mixture starts boiling. Add 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, and pour the dip into a fondue pot.
To make white chocolate fondue, pour 1 cup of heavy cream into a saucepan, place it over medium heat, and add 1/2 stick of unsalted butter to the pan. Cook the mixture while stirring it constantly until it starts simmering, and take the pan off the heat. Stir in 24 ounces of white morsels, allow them to melt, and pour the mixture into a fondue pot.
