Two recipes that you can make with a Vitamix are sweet potato soup and an apple pie smoothie. The sweet potato soup takes about 25 minutes to prepare, while the apple pie smoothie only takes about 10 minutes to prepare.
To make sweet potato soup using the Vitamix, start by sautéing 1/4 of a chopped onion in 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil for five minutes. In the Vitamix, add a baked sweet potato, half of a cored apple, a carrot cut in half, a cube of vegetable bouillon and 1 1/2 cups of water. Once the onion is tender, add this to the Vitamix as well.
Select Variable 1 on the Vitamix, and then turn on the machine. Slowly increase the speed to Variable 10, and then to high. Blend the soup for five to six minutes. The soup is done when heavy steam escapes from the vented lid of the machine.
For the apple pie smoothie, add 1 1/2 quartered apples, 3/4 cup of low-fat vanilla yogurt, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of apple pie spice and 1 cup of ice cubes to the Vitamix. Select Variable 1 on the machine, turn on the machine, and gradually increase the speed to Variable 10, then to high. Blend the smoothie for one minute, or until the smoothie achieves the desired thickness.
