The recipe for a White Russian consists of equal parts Kahlua and cream and 2 parts vodka. Traditionally, the White Russian drink is served in an old fashioned glass and is chilled with ice before serving.
The Kahlua website and Esquire both have a recipe for the White Russian. The Kahlua website offers variations for less calories that uses milk, skim milk or soy milk instead of heavy cream.

- 1 1/2 ounces vodka
- 3/4 ounce Kahlua
- 3/4 ounce heavy cream
- Load up the shaker
- Add heavy cream
Place the Kahlua and the vodka in a shaker filled with ice cubes and shake to chill.
Strain the mixed drink into an old fashioned glass that has been chilled. Some people prefer to have the drink poured over ice.
Drop the heavy cream over the drink with the back of a spoon to create an even layer.
Serve the drink as either a shot or a full drink. If it is served as a full drink, place a straw in the glass so the drink can be stirred to combine the flavors of the Kahlua and cream.
