Kraft offers a traditional dump cake recipe on its website, Kraft.com. The recipe calls for boxed cake mix, canned pie filling, crushed pineapple and sweet cream butter. It takes 50 minutes to prepare and yields 24 servings.
To prepare Kraft’s dump cake, spray a 9-inch-by-13-inch cake pan with nonstick cooking spray, and heat an oven to 350 F. Dump 1 large can of crushed pineapple into the pan, including its juice. Spread the pineapple around the pan, distributing it evenly. Dump 1 large can of cherry pie filling over the pineapple, spooning it out and distributing it evenly.
Dump 1 box of yellow cake mix over the pie filling. Spread the mix out as evenly as you can. Cut 1 1/2 sticks of salted sweet cream butter into small pats. Distribute the pats of butter over the cake mix. Bake the cake in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Alternatively, make a peach dump cake by heating the oven to 350 F and dumping a large can of peaches in their syrup into a 9-inch-by-13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle 1 18-ounce box of white cake mix over the peaches. Slice 1 1/2 sticks of butter into 12 tablespoon-sized pieces, and top with the mix with butter. Bake 45 to 60 minutes or until the top is bubbly and brown. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
