A common recipe for a tequila sunrise calls for 2 ounces of tequila, 4 ounces of orange juice and a splash or two of grenadine. The drink does not require ice, so all ingredients should be cold.
Pour the tequila and orange juice into a tall glass tumbler or other tall cocktail glass. Much of the appeal of the drink is its coloring, so it should be served in a clear glass.
Mix the tequila and orange juice with a long spoon. Tilt the glass slightly, and pour the grenadine down the tilted side, making the grenadine sink to the bottom of the glass. Garnish the drink with orange slices. Reduce the tequila or increase the orange juice if the drink tastes too strong.
