What Recipe Is Similar to Wendy's Chili Recipe?

In order to make chili that is similar to the chili sold at Wendy's, combine cooked ground beef, tomato sauce, kidney and pinto beans, onions, chilies, celery, tomatoes, cumin, chili powder and salt and ground black pepper into a large pot and stew for 2 to 3 hours. To make the recipe spicier, cooks can add more black pepper, cayenne pepper or jalapeno peppers.

Wendy's-style Chili

The following recipe is for chili that is similar to the dish that has been sold at Wendy's fast food restaurants since the early 1990s. The recipe can be topped with cheddar cheese and crackers, which both come with the chili at Wendy's locations.

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 29 ounces tomato sauce
  • 29 ounces pinto beans
  • 29 ounces of kidney beans
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 green chilies, diced
  • 1 stalk of celery, diced
  • 3 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 2 cups water

Step 1: Brown the ground beef into a skillet and use a fork to crumble it into small, pea-sized pieces.

Step 2: Combine the ground beef and all of the remaining ingredients into a large pot and simmer on low heat for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
