Make pull-apart cheese bread with a round loaf of artisan bread, 6 to 8-ounces of shredded cheese and 1/4 cup of butter. Butter, chives, bacon, sausage and chili powder are optional.
To make the bread, preheat an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, then slice the bread three-quarters of the way through in vertical and horizontal lines to make cubes that remain attached. Combine any desired mix-ins with the cheese, then load the mixture into the bread loaf. Pour 1/4 cup of melted butter over the bread, wrap tightly in foil and bake. After 20 minutes, remove the foil, and bake for 10 additional minutes until the cheese melts and the top of the bread is crispy.
