Make peach cobbler by mixing 4 cups of sliced peaches, 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a saucepan. Turn the burner to high heat, and bring to a boil before reducing the heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the stove. You can use either fresh or canned peaches in light or heavy syrup in the recipe.
Place 8 tablespoons of butter in a baking dish, and melt it in the oven. In a bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 cup of sugar, 1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour and 1 1/2 cups of milk into a smooth batter. Pour it over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir the butter into the batter.
Top the batter with the peach mixture. Add ground cinnamon to the top of the peaches to taste. You can substitute the ground cinnamon with cinnamon sugar. Bake the cobbler at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 45 minutes. Serve the cobbler warm with vanilla ice cream or freshly whipped cream.Learn more about Cooking
