A recipe for slow cooker split pea soup with diced ham, onions and carrots is available at the Whole Foods Market website. AllRecipes.com features a slightly different recipe for split pea soup with ham. Both recipes use a 16-ounce package of dry split peas.
Make the Whole Foods Market slow cooker pea soup by layering its ingredients in the slow cooker in the order given. Add a 16-ounce package of dried split peas to the pot, and then pour 2 cups diced ham on top. Add 1 cup each of sliced baby carrots and chopped yellow onion followed by 2 ribs of chopped celery, including the leaves. Mince 2 cloves garlic, and add it to the pot along with 1 bay leaf, 1/4 cup chopped parsley, salt and pepper to taste, and 6 cups of chicken broth. Without stirring the ingredients, cover and cook four to eight hours on high or eight to 10 hours on low.
For a slightly different soup, combine a 16-ounce package of dried split peas, 2 cups cubed ham, a large chopped onion and 1 cup chopped carrots in a slow cooker. Add 3 minced garlic cloves, and season with 1/2 teaspoon each dried crushed thyme and dried rosemary. Pour in a carton of reduced-sodium chicken broth and 2 cups water. After covering, cook on low for eight to 10 hours.
