For a total of four servings, use 6 ounces of orange juice, 1 cup of milk, one cup of water, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and eight to twelve individual ice cubes. Combine elements in a blender, blend together until smooth, pour in glasses and serve.
To ensure the best possible texture, try adding all ingredients to the blender with the exception of the ice cubes. Then, once those original items begin blending, add the ice cubes through the opening at the top of the blender one at a time until everything is integrated and the concoction is smooth. The whole process should take about one to two minutes total.
If desirable, it is acceptable to substitute a lower fat option for whole milk. One might even use a lactose free, soy, coconut or almond product if circumstances dictate. For a slightly different spin on the sweet component, substitute powdered sugar for the granulated variety, adding it in the same ratio to other ingredients. If sugar itself is undesirable, honey may serve as an alternative sweetener. With regard to the juice, it is important to remember that liquid form or fully thawed juice does not yield the proper texture, so only use it in a pinch. Otherwise, stick to the concentrated product.
