A Mountain Dew cake combines a lemon cake mix, lemon pudding and Mountain Dew soda to create a cake you bake in a fluted pan. Glaze the finished cake with a Mountain Dew glaze and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and prepare the fluted pan by greasing and flouring it. Place the cake mix in a mixing bowl and mix in a large lemon-flavored instant pudding mix. Add 4 large eggs and 1/2 cup of cooking oil. Slowly pour a 12-ounce can of Mountain Dew over the cake mix. Use an electric mixer set on medium speed to blend the ingredients.
Pour the batter into the pan, and place it in the oven. Bake the cake for 45 to 50 minutes until it tests done using a wooden pick. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for five minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
Prepare the glaze while the cake is still warm by melting 1/2 cup of butter in a pan over low heat. Add 1/2 cup of Mountain Dew and 1 cup of sugar to the melted butter, and heat the mixture to a boil. Cook the glaze for 2 minutes and remove it from the heat.
Poke holes in the cake using a fork, and slowly pour the glaze over the cake. After glazing the cake, sprinkle it with powdered sugar and allow it to cool before serving.
