Ready In: 15 min.
- 1 lb. white American cheese, cut into cubes
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 4-ounce cans chopped green chilies
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- Cayenne pepper, to taste (optional)
- Prepare the dip
Combine the cheese, milk and butter or margarine in a medium saucepan. Cook using low heat, stirring frequently. Once the cheese melts, stir in the garlic and onion powders, cumin and chilies. Add cayenne pepper for more heat, if desired. Serve immediately.
Those who prefer a thinner dip may add more milk if the sauce is too thick. it is also important to note that reviews for this dip claim it doesn't work well with other types of cheeses and that white American cheese works best.
