When making homemade turtles with Rolo candies, you need 1 bag of Rolo candies, 1 bag of Snyder's of Hanover square shaped butter pretzels, and 1 bag of pecan halves. A cookie sheet, wax paper and storage container are also needed.
Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and preparing your ingredients and materials. Open the bag of Rolo candies and unwrap each one. Place the unwrapped candies in a dish and set aside for later. Line the cookie sheet with wax paper. Open the pretzels and set each one down onto the cookie sheet. The sheet allows for approximately 50 to 60 pretzels. Place a Rolo candy on top of each pretzel.
Next, place the cookie sheet with the pretzels and Rolo candies on it in the oven for about five minutes to soften the Rolos. Be sure to check them often to avoid melting. Remove the sheet from the oven and proceed to push one pecan half on top of each Rolo candy.
Set the pan in a cool area or refrigerator to allow the turtle candies to harden. Finally, remove the turtles from the wax paper and place them in a sealed bag or container. To preserve freshness, keep the turtles in a cold area.
