To make meatloaf using Lipton’s onion soup mix, preheat an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and combine 1 envelope of Lipton Recipe Secrets onion soup mix with 2 pounds of ground beef, 3/4 cup of plain dry breadcrumbs and 2 eggs. Add 1/3 cup of ketchup and 3/4 cup of water.
Shape the mixture into a loaf inside a 13-inch by 9-inch roasting or baking pan. Bake the meatloaf uncovered for 1 hour, and allow it to stand for 10 minutes prior to serving. If desired, substitute 5 slices of cubed fresh bread or 1 1/2 cups of fresh bread crumbs for the dry breadcrumbs. For a variation of the recipe, substitute the onion soup mix for onion mushroom, savory herb with garlic or beefy onion varieties.
There is also a slow-cooker version of this meatloaf recipe. To make the recipe in a slow cooker, follow the same recipe, but arrange the meatloaf inside the slow cooker, and cook on low for six to eight hours or on high for four hours. If desired, place a rack on the bottom of the slow cooker, and then place the formed meatloaf on a piece of cheesecloth. Place the cheesecloth on the rack. This helps the meatloaf stay together during cooking and facilitates putting the loaf in and taking it out of the slow cooker.
