In a large bowl mix 1 envelope of Lipton's onion soup mix thoroughly with 2 pounds of ground beef, 3/4 cup of plain dried bread crumbs, 2 eggs, 3/4 cup of water and 1/3 cup of ketchup. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a 9-by-13-inch baking pan or roasting pan. Bake uncovered at 350 F for one hour or until the loaf is fully cooked. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
This recipe is also suitable for cooking in a slow cooker. When using a slow cooker, place a piece of cheesecloth underneath the loaf so it is easy to lift out. Typical cooking time is six to eight hours on low or four hours on high.
Other Lipton soups mixes are also suitable for use in this recipe, such as Lipton's Beefy Onion Soup, Lipton's Onion Mushroom Soup or Lipton's Savory Herb with Garlic Soup. If you don't have any dried bread crumbs you can substitute 1 1/2 cups of fresh bread crumbs or five slices of bread, cubed.Learn more about Cooking
