To make Mom On Time Out's recipe for lemon-lime Jell-O salad, start by coating a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Pour 2 cups hot water into the baking dish and then add 1 3-ounce package of lime Jell-O, 1 3-ounce package of lemon Jell-O and 1 1/4-ounce package of unflavored gelatin.
Mix until the gelatin crystals fully dissolve. Stir in 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup crushed pineapple, 1 pint cottage cheese and 1 cup mayonnaise. Chill for at least two hours and then sprinkle with lemon and lime zest. Cut into squares for serving.
For Kraft's creamy fruited-lime salad, empty 1 6-ounce package of lime Jell-O into a large bowl and dissolve in 1 1/2 cups boiling water. Stir in 1 8-ounce can of crushed pineapple and refrigerate for about 75 minutes or until the Jell-O slightly thickens.
In a medium bowl, mix 1 8-ounce package of cream cheese and 1 cup cottage cheese. Gently whisk in 1 cup of thawed whipped topping. Slowly add the cheese mixture to the Jell-O and then add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and 1/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries. Pour into a greased 6-cup mold and refrigerate for at least four hours.
