The official recipe for Fritos Chili Pie is published in the Recipes section of FritoLay.com. The estimated preparation time is five minutes and Frito Lay suggests the dish is great for lunch.
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Locate an oven-safe serving dish such as a glass or metal baking pan. Pour 1 large bag of Fritos Original Corn Chips into the dish, spreading them out evenly along the bottom of the dish. Pour a 15-ounce can of chili into a microwave-safe dish or a pan and heat. Any type of chili can be used, including beef chili with or without beans.
After heating the chili, pour it evenly over the Fritos in the serving dish. If desired, additional ingredients can be added on top of the chili, such as diced white, red or yellow onion, diced tomatoes, shredded iceberg lettuce and seeded and chopped jalapeno peppers. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly all over the top of the chili and other toppings. Some examples of shredded cheese to use are cheddar, Monterey Jack or a blend of both.
Place the serving dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the cheese melts. The Frito Chili Pie is best served immediately. Another variation is to mix the warmed chili, cheese and toppings together in a small bag of Fritos Original Corn Chips, eating directly out of the bag with a spoon.
