Prepare a black forest dump cake using canned cherry pie filling, pitted dark cherries, German chocolate cake mix, cherry cola and chocolate chips. Make dump cakes in the pan you plan to bake them in to eliminate most of the cleanup.
Use nonstick cooking spray to coat a 13-inch by 9-inch baking pan. Pour a 21-ounce can of pie filling into the bottom of the pan and add the 15-ounce of drained dark cherries. Spread the cherries to cover the bottom of the pan using a fork. Pour the dry cake mix over the cherries without mixing. Pour the can of soda evenly over the dry cake mix to cover it without mixing.
Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake the dump cake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Remove the cover and continue baking for an additional 30 minutes, or until the cake sets. Remove the cake from the oven and cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Serve the Black Forest dump cake with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping and melted chocolate chips. Vary the dump cake recipe by using different fruits, cake mixes and soda flavors. For a buttery dump cake, replace the soda with 1/2 cup of melted butter.
