The recipe involves making a graham cracker layer, a layer of pudding and a layer of fruit mixed with cream cheese. The cake is topped with nuts as a garnish.
Banana Split "Cake"
This cake is great for an event, as it serves 24 people. It can be made healthier by substituting margarine for butter, Neufchatel cheese for traditional cream cheese and fat-free or low-fat versions of the pudding and whipped cream.

- 9 crushed graham crackers
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 2 8-ounce packages of cream cheese
- 1 20-ounce can pineapple, drained
- 6 divided bananas
- 2 3.4-ounce vanilla-flavored instant pudding mix
2 cups cold milk
2 cups whipped cream topping, thawed
1 cup chopped pecans
- Prepare crust
- Make cream cheese filling and add fruit
- Prepare pudding and toppings
Mix together the graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup of the sugar and the butter. Press onto the bottom of a pan, 13 inches by 9 inches in size, and put it in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Use a mixer to combine the sugar and cream cheese, then spread it over the graham cracker mixture. Pour pineapple on top, and top the pineapple with four pieces of banana.
Whisk together the pudding mixes and the milk for 2 minutes, then mix in 1 cup of the whipped topping. Put it in the refrigerator for 5 hours, and top with remaining banana and nuts.
