Teriyaki sauce uses ingredients such as soy sauce, ginger and garlic powder. The ingredients are combined and cooked to make a thick, sweet sauce anyone can whip up in only a few minutes.
All that is needed for this recipe are a few ingredients and a medium saucepan. With minor adjustments, it can be made more or less sweet or spicy, if desired.

- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 5 tbsp. packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 to 2 tbsp. honey
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
Step 1: Mix all the ingredients except the cornstarch in a medium saucepan and cook on the stove on medium heat.
Step 2: Mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water until smooth. Add the slurry to the sauce mixture and stir.
Step 3: Adjust the burners to medium heat, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes or until the sauce reaches the desired thickness.
For a thinner sauce, add a bit more water. For a spicy teriyaki sauce, add 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper.
