A holiday favorite, pecan pie is enjoyed any time of year. With sweet syrup and brown sugar, this pecan pie recipe has its roots in the South. As a dessert recipe, it's also simple to make.

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Place a cookie sheet on either the middle or low rack. Heat the cookie sheet at the same time as the oven.

2. Bring the pie crust to room temperature so you can unfold it and work with it. Place the crust in an ungreased 9-inch pie plate. Decorate the edges as desired, using a fork or fluting with your fingers. Place the crust and plate in the freezer for 30 minutes to one hour.

3. Beat the eggs separately in a bowl. Mix the brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt and eggs in a large bowl using a hand mixer on medium speed for one to two minutes until smooth.

4. Add the pecan pieces by hand to the mixture slowly until combined completely.

5. Pour the pie filling into the frozen shell. Using strips of aluminum foil, cover the edges of the pie for up to 20 minutes to prevent burning. Place the pie plate on the preheated cookie sheet in the oven.

6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the middle has a sponge-like feel when touched. Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.

Tips and suggestions: To make this pie recipe quickly, a premade frozen pie shell is recommended. However, a handmade pie crust may be used. Be sure to freeze it for at least 30 minutes in its pan before beginning the rest of the recipe. Pecan pie is best served chilled, although it can be served at room temperature after it has chilled. Chill the pie for roughly two hours before serving.
