Full Answer

Nabisco manufactures Chips Ahoy cookies, Ritz crackers and Cheese Nips snacks. It makes Trident and Dentyne gums, Wheat Thins crackers and Mallomars and Swedish fish candies. Kraft Handi-Snacks, Nutter Butter cookies and Stoned Wheat Thins wheat crackers are additional products from Nabisco.

Although Nabisco is an easily recognized name, the parent company that owns Nabisco, Mondelez International, is less well known. Nabisco produces its products at its 1.8-million-square-foot plant in Chicago, Illinois, which employees 1,500 people and is the world's largest bakery. More than 320 million pounds of snacks roll out of the factory each year.

The company's roots go back to 1792, when a Massachusetts company known as Pearson & Sons began producing a biscuit that was capable of being taken on long excursions at sea and was known as pilot bread. Nearly 100 years later, William Moore bought the bakery and renamed it the New York Biscuit Company, with the name Nabisco being given to a sugar wafer the company started producing in 1901.
