Fill a large pot with water, and bring it to a boil.
Place roughly six ice cubes and 2 cups of water into a large glass bowl. Set the bowl aside.
Dip the basil into the boiling water for about three seconds or until it wilts.
Place the wilted basil into the ice bath to stop the cooking process.
Shake the water off of the chilled basil, and place the basil into a freezer bag.
Freeze the preserved basil until it is ready to use.
