To prepare senna tea, rinse the leaves under cold, running water. Select and prepare freshly minced ginger or fresh peppermint leaves to enhance the taste of the prepared senna tea. Steep the senna leaves with your choice of either minced ginger or peppermint leaves for up to 12 hours.
- Rinse the leaves
Rinse approximately 2 teaspoons of senna leaves under running water. Pat dry and set aside.
- Prepare the additional desired herbs
Peel and mince approximately 1 teaspoon of freshly minced ginger. Alternately, measure 1 teaspoon of freshly rinsed peppermint leaves to infuse into the tea.
- Steep the senna leaves with freshly minced ginger or peppermint leaves
Steep the senna tea leaves and the minced ginger or fresh peppermint leaves in 10 to 12 ounces of cold, filtered water. Alternately, steep the senna leaves and ginger in boiling water for about 10 minutes.
- Strain the tea
Use a tea strainer to strain the tea. Alternately, strain the tea through a coffee filter or a stack of three to four clean, neatly stacked paper towels set atop a large bowl or a coffee cup or mug.
- Drink the tea
Drink the tea while it is hot, preferably before bedtime. Discard any leftover tea.
