Some potato bake recipes are Cheesy Potato Bake and Twice-baked Potato Casserole. Another recipe, Creamy Cheese and Potato Bake, calls for peeled potatoes, butter, milk, cream and Gruyere, as well as onion, white wine and sage.
To make a creamy cheese and potato bake, peel 3 pounds of potatoes, and boil them for three minutes before cutting them into pieces. In a saucepan, add a spat of butter and 1 minced onion, cooking for five minutes before adding 1/2 cup white wine, 1 1/4 cups milk and 1 2/3 cups double cream. Mix the cream mixture and potatoes in a bowl, then add 3 sage leaves and 1 ounce of grated Gruyere. Pour the mixture into a baking dish, and sprinkle 1 ounce of Gruyere cheese on top. Cook, covered, at 335 to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, then another 30 minutes uncovered.
Another potato bake recipe requires thinly slicing 4 large potatoes. After slicing the potatoes, layer them in a baking dish. Cook 1 tablespoon of onion in 1/4 cube of butter, and season with 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Pour the mixture over the potatoes, and bake at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh parsley before baking for another 15 minutes.
