Rodney Strong Vineyards, Truett-Hurst Winery, Paradise Ridge Winery and Buena Vista Winery are some of the most popular wineries in Sonoma as of 2015, as listed on the Sonoma County website. These wineries are described as local favorites.
Rodney Strong Vineyards offers boutique, small-lot wines and was named the American Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast in 2013. The winery's specialties include Bordeaux-style red wines and Cabernet Sauvignons, and its summer music festival draws in a large crowd every year. Truett-Hurst Winery is a unique biodynamic vineyard where visitors sample wine while viewing olive trees, ducks, sheep and heirloom fruits. The location is a popular spot for picnics, and bottles are available in the tasting room.
Paradise Ridge Winery features breathtaking landscapes and its own sculpture garden. During the summer and early fall, visitors pack in for the Wednesday evening Wine & Sunsets featuring food trucks and wine sampling. Buena Vista Winery has been serving the area since 1857, making it the oldest commercial winery in California. It is also considered the birthplace of the state's modern wine industry. Visitors can blend the vineyard's European wines themselves when they sign up for the "Be the Count Experience" inspired by the winery's founder Count Agoston Haraszthy.
