Popular recipes using five or less ingredients include salmon with brown sugar glaze, salsa chicken and last minute lasagna. These simple recipes use ingredients often found in kitchen pantries such as brown sugar, pasta sauce and taco seasoning.
The salmon with brown sugar glaze recipe requires coating a broiler pan with cooking spray and placing the oven rack about six inches away from the heat source. Shake salt and pepper over 4 boneless salmon fillets to taste and transfer to the broiler pan. In a small bowl, whisk 1/4 cup brown sugar with 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard. Spoon brown sugar mixture on top of fillets and broil for 10 to 15 minutes.
Salsa chicken makes four servings. Lightly grease a 9- by 13-inch baking dish and place 4 skinless boneless chicken breasts into the dish. Sprinkle both sides of chicken breasts with 4 teaspoons taco seasoning mix. Pour 1 cup salsa evenly over the chicken breasts. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Sprinkle the top of chicken with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese and bake for another three to five minutes. Garnish with 2 tablespoons of sour cream, if desired.
To make last minute lasagna grab one jar pasta sauce and spoon a thin layer of sauce in the bottom of a 9- by 13-inch baking dish. Layer one large refrigerated cheese ravioli on top, and layer 1/2 bag thawed frozen spinach on top. Add 1/2 bag shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, ending with remaining sauce. Sprinkle 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese on top, cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Uncover, and bake another five to 10 minutes.
