To make drunken beans, cook 8 ounces of chopped sausage for eight minutes, and transfer it to a plate. Cook 1 chopped onion in the sausage fat for five minutes, and stir in 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon of oregano and 1 teaspoon of chili powder. Cook for 30 seconds, and add 1 pound of soaked beans, 1 bottle of beer and 5 cups of water. Simmer the mixture for one hour, and stir in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of minced chiles and 1 teaspoon of salt.
Continue to simmer for 50 minutes, and then add the sausage and cook for 10 more minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons of cilantro and 1 tablespoon of lime juice before serving.
To make the picnic salad, place half a head of chopped lettuce in a bowl, and sprinkle it with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Layer 1/2 sliced red onion, 6 chopped eggs, 1 1/2 cups of peas, 4 sliced celery ribs, 1 chopped bell pepper and 1 sliced cucumber on top. Add the other half of the chopped lettuce on top, and sprinkle it with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Top the salad with 1 pound of crumbled bacon and 1 1/2 cups of blue cheese.
Spread a dressing over the salad by mixing 1 1/2 cups of mayonnaise, 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of hot sauce, 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons of pepper. Refrigerate the salad for eight hours before serving.Learn more about Cooking
