An easy and popular recipe for cooking a turkey in an oven bag calls for poultry, seasoning, salt and pepper, apple cider, maple syrup and apples. This recipe takes only 15 minutes for preparation and two to four hours for cooking.
First coat the inside of a large oven bag with cooking spray and dust it with flour. Add two chopped celery stalks and one sliced large yellow onion to the bag. Prepare the turkey by completely thawing it, rinsing it with water and patting it dry with disposable towels. Remove the neck and giblets.
In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1 tablespoon of poultry seasoning. Rub the mixture over the turkey and underneath the skin. Rub salt and pepper on the outside of the turkey, as well as under the skin and inside. Stuff the turkey with one sliced apple.
Stir 1/2 cup of apple cider and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup together. Place the turkey in the oven bag with the vegetables and drizzle it with the syrup mixture. Tie the oven bag closed and put it on a roasting pan. Cut a few slits in the top of the bag to allow steam to escape. Roast the turkey at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for two to four hours.
