Some popular Blue Bell Ice Cream flavors include homemade vanilla, Dutch chocolate chip and cookies and cream. The three flavors are the Texas-based ice cream company’s top selling products, according to a 2014 AL.com article.
Homemade vanilla ranks as the company’s bestselling flavor, accounting for 60 percent of total sales. Dutch chocolate chip and cookies and cream are the next highest selling flavors. According to a poll of users on Ranker, strawberries and homemade vanilla, buttered pecan, milk chocolate, chocolate chip cookie dough and Moo-linnium crunch are also popular. Many regions also have particular favorites. In Alabama, for example, black walnut and buttered pecan are top sellers.
The company offers more than 250 different frozen novelties, with over 60 distinct flavors of ice cream available. Around 20 flavors are offered all year long, while the rest are sold seasonally. Homemade vanilla was first introduced in 1969, and Blue Bel was also the first to mass produce the cookies and cream flavor.
Operating out of Brenham, Texas, Blue Bell is available in 23 U.S. states, mostly in the South. Although the company’s products are only available in select markets, Blue Bell ranks as one of the top three ice cream manufacturers in the country. The original Blue Bell facility in Brenham is its largest, and the company has additional production facilities in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Sylacauga, Alabama.
